At Christians Drug Rehab, faith and healing converge. – an interview with Beth Durling, Director of the LINKS Program
At the heart of our transformative experience is the LINKS Program, a faith-based track led by Beth Durling. The LINKS Program offers a comprehensive spiritual experience, with Bible-based 12-step programs, boundaries groups, and healing sessions. It provides a structured path for individuals to rediscover their faith and find a deeper connection with God. “The Bible says, ‘Be still and know that I am God.’ We help people find their way to solitude and stillness,” Durling explains. The program incorporates meditation, hands-on prayer, breathwork, and other practices aimed at resetting the nervous system, allowing clients to encounter God in moments of tranquility.
Northbound Recovery, our parent company, has long recognized the profound impact of faith-based rehabilitation. Paul Alexander, Northbound’s owner, analyzed the data and discovered that individuals engaged in faith-based recovery statistically fare better. This correlation isn’t coincidental; it underscores a deeper connection between spiritual well-being and addiction recovery.
With her profound dedication and spiritual insight, Durling and her team have become a beacon of hope for many who seek recovery through faith. Durling has channeled her passion for helping others into what she describes as her most significant career achievement. “In my career, I’ve never done anything I believe is as special as this. I would use the term ‘anointed,’” she shares. Durling’s belief in the power of spiritual experiences is palpable; she serves as the “all things spiritual” guide within the program.
Durling emphasizes the importance of integrating traditional therapy with spiritual growth. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and relapse prevention are key components of the LINKS Program, providing clients with essential skills for long-term recovery. Yet, the spiritual dimension offers something unique. “Faith-based modality is an outward expression of worship to God, but there is a Christ in me. That is the opportunity to recognize that there is a part of me that has the answers, that has Christ in her,” she asserts.
The impact of this approach is profound. Half of the program’s participants choose to be baptized, with Durling baptizing between 10-15 individuals each month. “Baptism is an outward expression of the spiritual experience they’re having. It’s a renewal of this sacred practice,” she explains. Even those who do not initially identify as faith-based often find themselves drawn to reconnect with their spirituality.
The LINKS Program extends beyond traditional therapy sessions. It includes initiatives like Link Up, where participants provide care and prayer for newcomers in detox, and Proverb and Prayer, a 6 AM daily devotion meeting. These activities foster a sense of community and support, helping individuals navigate the challenges of recovery together.
The program’s environment is also meticulously curated, with lavender-scented rooms, therapeutic music, and a focus on breathwork and declarative prayer. “Behind the thoughts is where we find God,” she teaches, guiding clients to understand their trauma responses and find peace through spiritual practices. “Even just walking in, something happens. When I walk into the room, I have a spiritual experience just through the environment.”
As the leading national faith-based recovery track, the LINKS Program at Northbound Recovery is a testament to the power of spirituality in healing. At Christians Drug Rehab, individuals are finding their way back to their spiritual selves, experiencing lasting recovery and renewed hope. “There is a transformation that happens here. It’s a place to come in and find your way to a deeper level of self-healing,” she emphasizes. At Christians Drug Rehab, recovery is not just about overcoming addiction; it’s about transforming lives through faith and spiritual connection.
